Check guest checkout on staging. Try edge cases. Stop before payment.

Probanda

I’ll check a one-item cart, an empty cart, and removing then re-adding the same item. I’ll repeat any failure in a fresh session.

  1. One-item cart → checkoutChecked
  2. Empty cart → checkout unavailableChecked
  3. Remove, re-add → try checkoutBlocked

Repeated in a fresh session. Same item, same blocked checkout.

Probanda

Guest checkout opened with one item. After removing and re-adding it, checkout stayed disabled. The same steps reproduced the blockage in a fresh session.

A plan for the paths that matter.

Describe what should work. Probanda plans the checks, then explores the normal path and the edges around it.

Set the boundaries

Choose the environment, expected behavior, and where to stop. When scope or permissions are unclear, the intended handoff asks before proceeding.

What the evidence can tell you

This example shows the observed failure and its reproduction, not an invented root cause. A result stays tied to its environment, revision, and tested scope.

Same path, next revisionExample

Stopped before payment.

The fix gets tested, too.

Run the original failing path against the next revision. Compare the observed result, with payment still out of scope.

Keep the result in context

Reaching guest checkout is the observed result here. It does not establish that payment, order completion, or unrelated paths passed.

The result returns to the work.

Planned rules keep checks within the agreed scope. A linked fix waits for an approved review and a ready test environment. Results do not automatically merge a PR or close an issue.

Slack, email, GitHub and Linear connections are planned.

Questions, answered.

What is Probanda?

Probanda is an AI QA bot we’re building to turn testing goals into plans, explore normal and boundary paths, and independently reproduce suspected issues. It brings back evidence and follows the next fix into a retest.

Do I need to write the test steps?

The goal is to start with what should work, the target environment, and your boundaries. Probanda plans the checks and asks when expected behavior is unclear. You can also supply acceptance criteria or an existing test plan.

What does a result tell me?

What was explored, what happened, and which issues were reproduced, with supporting steps and evidence. Blocked checks and untested paths stay explicit. A completed run does not mean the entire product is bug-free.

Where does Probanda fit into our work?

Slack, email, GitHub and Linear are planned entry points. Assign a goal in a conversation or hand off a reviewed change with a ready test environment. Findings return to the same context; merge and release decisions stay with your team.

When can I use Probanda?

Probanda is coming soon. The examples on this page show the experience we’re building. Slack, email, GitHub and Linear connections are planned.
